you need to check that audio is [Enabled] in the BIOS
all commands are done using the keyboard

print off so you can follow

to enter BIOS press F2 key as soon as comp boots, the
Main menu opens

use the right arrow key to select Advanced menu

use down arrow key to select Peripheral Configuration - press Enter key

AC97 audio should show Auto

if Disabled - use down arrow key to select

then + key to change to Auto or Enabled

press F10 key to Save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

install audio driver again

Don't forget the Restore Point
