Confused about windows 7

I have ordered my upgrade for windows 7, but am wondering if i made a mistake.

I have windows XP Home, of which i keep a mirror image copy onto an other drive.

My concern is, when i install the new windows 7, will it kill the key numbers to my windows XP Home? From what i have read, it looks like it will. If that is the case, then if i do NOT like windows 7, and i revert back to my other hard drive which has the windows XP Home on it, will that no longer be a legal OS?

Okay Dave, i read that page, but I fail to see where it addresses my concerns.

If i install windows 7, and I use my XP keys to do it as an upgrade, will it then kill the XP keys?

Seems like i read an article that it would, and that is what scares me.

reply from MS

Thought I would share the reply I got back from MS, in case anyone else out there had the same concerns as I did.

"I understand that you would like to know that after installing upgrade copy of Windows 7 on Windows XP would product key for Windows XP be valid, Yes, the product key for Windows XP would be valid. ""

Just a shame that the European version of Windows 7 will not let you upgrade from either XP or Vista
