Installing Windows 7 over WIndows 8

I have a question involving both OS's. I'm not sure if I am in the correct area to post this question, but here goes.

If I have a windows 8 laptop, is it ok to format the laptop and install windows 7 on it? As far as system capabilities, should this be a clean install>?

It depends on the machine. If it's OEM. you might have issues, mainly with activation. Other than that and missing drivers you should be OK.
