Temp Files Headache

Hi,
I'm using Windows 98 with IE6 and i've come accross something confusing (dousn't take much)
I use disc clean up to get rid of my temp files: As I look at it now it say's I have 1.8 meg of Temporary Internet files I can delete.

But in explorer i can go to
C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Where there is 295 meg of files!!!

So my question is this. Can I delete them? are they something left over from an IE update maybe.

I'm pretty sure you can delete these files. I have Norton Utilities set to delete all Internet Explorer related files when I disconnect from the Internet. So the answer is yes you can delete these.

In Tools->Internet Options you can see where your temporary Internet files are stored.
Good chance that this location was changed, also a possibility that multiple users have their own Internet Cache.

In general these can be safely deleted, some files will fail to delete if you ran IE previously (the index files)

After a reboot, you can delete all cache including the directories under it, they are automatically recreated.

i agree with merc, but cleaning the files out manually is also good.
