Ethernet driver install

I'm having a terrible time installing the drivers for a Linksys lne100tx ver 2. When the new hardware wizard comes up and I tell it to look in the floppy disk I get the message that the files cannot be found yet I know that I have the correct disk installed. I have gone to the Linksys web site and it tells me to do the same thing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

did you follow the instruction where it says delete the files under C:\WINDOWS\INF\OTHERS\ ... ? it seem to me that operating system take the generic driver over the one you have on the disk and that's why they want you to delete the generic driver first then insert your card.

I've had the same problem with several Linksys installs while others go without a hitch.

I've had some success with creating a folder on the harddrive, copying all the files from the floppy to that folder, then pointing the install wizard at the file it wants in that folder.

I'm not sure about your paticular software but i've seen some that had different folders on them for 98,me,xp and you had to point it to the folder of the operating system that you have on the floppy, eg. location of file: a:win98'

When you point it toward the A: drive, what message are you getting back? Does it act like it is starting to load the drivers and then tells you that it can't find a specific file or is it not even trying to load drivers at all? I have seen several bad floppies right out of the box. And I have seen several that couldn't find certain dll files after starting the loading process. In that case you may have to point it to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ and browse for those files there. If there are several different missing dll files you may have to do this several times to get them all loaded
