Question Disabling Messenger 5?

I'm not sure if this topic is in the right place, but here is my question:

I was wondering if there is a way to disable MSN Messenger 5. I work at a school, and our students spend too much time chatting. So we disabled Messenger 4.xx by using the PreventRun=1 registrykey. But guess what... Messenger 5 doesn't seem to be impressed by our restrictions. And the students almost immediately noticed this. So a few weeks later those annoying MSN messages keep popping up at almost every screen in the building.

Does anybody know of a new way to prevent students from running Messenger? (The computers are Windows 98se machines)

You can always stop it from auto starting from Tools > Options > Preferences.

>Does anybody know of a new way to prevent students from running Messenger?
You will have to disable the port which MSN messenger uses.

Thumbs up Thanx for your suggestions

Messenger is able to switch to port 80 when you disable its main port. But a nice person sent me an email with a nice solution called Program Killer. It's not what I was looking for, but good enough for me. Thanx for all your suggestions.

Send a message via AIM to setec
Or you could always completely delete the folder:

C:\Program Files\Messenger

But, they could reinstall I suppose.
