Hi i have had BLUE screens(STOP ERRORS) in Xp but i have had less in ME

Hi I have been recently getting blue screen erros in xp. I changed to ME and got fewer blue screens. Anyway i have posted a few threads about this problem already. I just want to ask now if my PC temps and voltages seem out of place because i have heard that this may also cause it. Also i tryed metest and Microsoft Memory Diagnostics tools and i get alot of errors. Something like the memory that should be read is fffffffff but mine reads as ff27ff27ff. I think that these BSOD's are the RAM but i need to ask if other things can cause this. Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon Xp 2600+
Coolermaster Aero 7 Socket A
80gb Hitachi Hard Disc
DVD ROM Drive & CDRW Drive
Floppy Drive
3 case fans
400w PSU
Geil 256mb ram (1 stick)
Another 256 ram (dont know the make)

Here are temp and voltages:

165 MHZ x 12.5
2062 MHZ
FSB 165
Room Temp 28C/82F
CPU Temp 54C/129F
Sys Temp 49C/120F
V-Core - 1.60v
3.3V - 3.27v
+5V - 5.08v
+12v - 11.84v

IF ANYONE SEES ANYTHING HERE THAT IS OUT OF PLACE LIKE TEMP TOO HIGH OR VOLTAGES TO HIGH/LOW THEN PLEASE TELL ME SO I CAN IDENTIFY THIS BLUE SCREEN PROBLEM. I WILL BE CHANGING THE RAM DOWN TO 1 CORSAIR 256MBCorsair XMS DDR IN 2 WEEKS TIME. IF THESE SPECS DO SEEM OUT OF PLACE LIKE JUST SAY THE VOLTAGES THEN I COULD TRY CHANGING THE PSU BUT IT ONLY EVER REBOOTS AUTOMATICALLY WITH A BLUE SCREEN SO I GUESS IT CANT BE THE PSU. THANX AND PLZ PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Forget to mention that i am also going to change back to xp once these problems are sorted because i find ME quite plain (sorry to the ME users)

Your two questions. 1. RAM

You seem to have some trouble accepting you have mem problems!! If tests show RAM errors you have problem RAM!!!

Also, a common problem causing crashes and freezes is dust!! This causes electrostatic discharge esp around RAM mods.

2. CPU Temps.

How are you reading your temps?

You need to wait until a crash or BSOD etc., then reboot via reset and enter BIOS. If showing something in the range of >70 dgrees you may need a new heatsink and fan.

Happy Computing!!

I dont have problems acepting its the RAM because i am already changing it. And no my Pc temp does never go over 60C in either CPU or SYS temp so i guess the RAM just needs changing. Isnt there anything unusual about the voltages?

Just curious!..............Have you checked your CPU/Fan/Heatsink closely for possible dust buildup? This a very common problem and unless you really look close you may over look it.

Have you simply tried to run with either one of the RAM sticks on their own as opposed to both? I have found different sticks in the same machine can at times create issues (on occasion).

While I can't speak about XP Home (I have never used it) I can say that using either XP Pro or Windows 2000 "Blue screens" are virtually non existant in a well performing machine. While ME is inheritanly "buggy"...hence the "occasional" blue screen you should be concerned if they are excessive. From what you describe that would probably be the case. I'm not sure switching back to ME from XP was the ideal thing to do even if only temp.
XP offers more tools to help you resolve such a problem as yours, eg. "Administrative tools" > event viewer. Here you will be able to view "system errors and or warnings". This will not solve your problem but often will atleast give you a clue as to the problem.

Have you inspected your CPU/Fan/Heatsink for dust buildup? This is a very common problem and often results in excessive heat.

Have you tried running with only 1 stick of ram at a time?
Two different sticks (Different manufactures) can at times cause issues.

Yes i do have a little bit of dust and have cleaned it. Also i have tryed the sticks seperately and i do get less blue sceren errors. Im sure the new stick of 256MB i get that is going to be run on its own will sort out the problem. Thanx
