missing icon/graphic's on start menu

I am running windows me and i instaled Ontrack's powerdesk didnt like it so i uninstalled it but after i uninstalled it the side bar on the start menu where it sais Windows Millennium ,nice and coulorfully is missing and theres just a black rectangle block instead. I tried to edit the files USER.EXE & EXPLORER.EXE but they only seem to contain the icons for RUN, SEARCH , HELP, CONTROL PANNEL .Any sugestions how to get it back ,I tried to reinstall windows over the top of itself but that didn't work i dont want to reformat and reinstall everthing that would take forever.
and i dont want to lose all the settings i have,Any help much appreciated thanks.

Your error:

Windows Me Logo Missing On Start Menu

When you select the Start Menu, you may notice that the text Windows Me Millennium Edition is missing from the left border.

Your Solution:

This happens if you have 8 or less items on your Start Menu, since the graphic making up the text "Windows Me Millennium Edition" needs more height to display.

If you add items to the Start Menu, the logo will re-appear.
