If your not sure what you are doing maybe you should give a couple of the filenames so you don't accidentally delete a system file.

There is a utility that will delete\move\copy a file before windows starts called move on boot linked below

???

Which Operating System are you using and what is the hardware specification?

What other programs are you using and what security programs do you utilise?

Nowhere near enough info.

Which anti-virus program are you using and have you tried an on-line scan with a different company?

deleting a write-protected file

c:\windows\wmpenv.dll is that an important file? I know that it is an application for internet explorer. I have a virus called Trojan.W32.Looksky on it, and I know that it's on that file. Would my computer be affected in any negative ways? I don't even want Internet Explorer anymore, I wanna switch to Mozilla Firefox.

virus

hi, What I would suggest, is go to a site like Symantic( or Avast)---and look for somewhere on the site that lets you scan your computer right from the site. This way you get a virus scanner that isn't infected. After that download a free version from Avast or Avg and run a thorough scan . The program will try to quarantine the infected files. Also some infections may require a spyware program. While you are looking at avg, download their spyware program. I think its the best free program I've seen. You don't want to delete any program files. Thats like cutting off your arm--Good luck Lenny
