totally stuffed

Firstly...IE problems. Windows ME. MSHTML.DLL / URLMON.DLL
The former when I try to open up IE via the desktop icon.
Also when I am on a microsoft site, the latter appears.
Norton won't do a scan....MSHTML.DLL error.
Now I made a huge mistake. I associated a DLL file with NortonAntivirus.
It seems that all my DLL's are now associated with Norton.
What do I do?

First you might try using Syatem Restore to get your system back to a time before this change - in case you don't know how ... go Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > then run through the System Restore calendar for an earlier successful boot time. This might revert back the file association change that occured.

Should the errors be the result of spyawre, you might run Spybot or Adaware, update them, then have them scan your pc.

Should it be virus related - turn off System Restore and then have your AV do a scan / Heal - then turn Sys. Restore back on.

Captain shes gonna blow! If the above fails you...Format and reinstall. I backup all my important stuff on CD all the time so when things get crappy, I just format and forget. Nothing like a new install and drivers!
