how do i restore a system

my mother gave me her old computer it is an eMachine that runs windowsME it is very full and at this point i feel the best thing to do would be to restore the system to it's original state. we can not seem to find the restore disks, does anyone know if there is any other way to restore a computer without the disks?

i tried that, that only restores it to a point that you created for it to go back to if something goes wrong. so if you didn't set any up then it can't restore it anywhere. i want to delete everything i want to start over all the programs that i have on there can be downloaded again, so i'm really not worried about that. i just want it to run. i can't go online for more than 2 mins. without it restarting the computer, so i think it just needs restored completely...does anyone have any ideas? should i try to find someone with the same computer and use their disks? or is there an easier way?

The simple answer to your question is, no, there is no way other than using the disks that came with the computer to restore it to its original state.

you can call the 800 #...

and give the serial number to the cpu and they will send you a disk for almost no money, I had to do that with a Compaq Windows ME.. took about three days, and $10.00. I have never regreted sending off for it.
