Question hooking up 2 computers one on XP and other on Windows 98

Was wondering if someone can help me bf and I would like to hook up 2 computers but right now he is on dial up and we will be moving computers into another room that does not have a jack, was just wondering if we will need to get both a cordless modem plus a piece to hook up to one of the computer then attach the other computer to his computer or is there another way of hooking both computers up and if so could someone tell me how we can do it please?

How exactly did you connect before to the internet? One box directly linked to the modem and the other linked through the first one? Please be more specific and try using periods at the of a sentance. No ofence, but I sincerily don't know where one sentance ends and another begins in your post.

Best regards.

What I was trying to find out, is my bf has his computer hooked up to dial up, and we would like to hook up my computer also to dial up, but not sure what we need to do that. Both computers are going to be moved to another room where there is no jack. So what I was wondering is what type of modem are we going to need? and if we need anything elts to connect to either computer. Also ty for letting me know about the periods due to the fact I was typing fast and you should check your spelling and grammer also please do not take that offencivly, I try to help others as they try and help me. Thank you!

Have a look at these sites: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...g/default.mspx http://computer.howstuffworks.com/home-network.htm http://www.homenethelp.com/ or search Google for: home networking.
Have you considered going broadband? I've never regreted ditching my old very slow dial-up for the speed of broadband!
My present set up, here in the UK, is a BT Voyager 2000 wireless router (which is connected to the telephone system), 2 desktop computers and a laptop. The desktops each use a BT Voyager 1010 USB adapter, and the laptop uses a BT Voyager 1020 adapter. With the router switched on, I can share my single Broadband connection by either using one computer, or use all three machines at the same time! The computers and laptop are in different rooms, but all can connect wirelessly to the router and onto the internet. Other broadband users have a host PC connected by wire to a router, and another (guest) PC using wireless from another room. There are several choices and methods you could use. Personally, I like being able to sit in the garden and still connect to the internet by using my laptop.

If you are staying with dial-up, here is another site that is worth a look: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...sharingdup.htm
