How to Cancel installation pending work.
Windows98se.
After trying to install a microsoft hotfix, which was not able to complete, now when I try to install anything I get a message stating:
"Another installation has work pending, please reboot to finish".
Although 10 reboots later I still get this message and cannot install anything or update certain programs. I have tried microsofts solution:
"Start a registry editor (i.e., regedit.exe).
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager registry subkey.
Double-click PendingFileRenameOperations.
Remove any entries for this registry value, then click OK".
I do not have a "PendingFileRenameOperations" under any of the registry key or subkeys. I have also ran a registry search for "PendingFileRenameOperations" with no results found. I also tried goback, safe mode, selective loading to work around this pending work with no luck.
I also do not have a Win98 CD.
Does anyone know of a way to cancel the pending work?
Thanks
