it's sad because i used to have Windows ME on this computer, then i reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows XP Home Edition. Windows XP works far more efficiently and doesn't freeze the way Windows ME used to do to me. The only modifications I made to the computer(concerning hardware) was to add a second hard drive and an old Yamaha CD burner. I've had no major problems at all with XP, although I recall having tons of problems with Windows ME. Really, my point is.. Windows XP has treated me and my computer MUCH better than Windows ME ever did.

What I would suggest doing, is to save all of your information on a disk or something just so that you don't lose all of your personal information. Then, go into MS-DOS, and format the C: drive. Then stick your Windows XP Upgrade disk in, and chose to boot off of the CD, eventually, it will ask you for a previous version of Microsoft. Insert your Windows ME disk in, press enter, and finish the install .Hope this works!
