I need some SERIOUS help!!!

Windows ME
WOW DSL internet service
1 log on page for windows

Im just going to go through with some of the problems I am currently are dealing with.

1st. During the startup/load up of windows me (loading desktop and taskbar icons) 2 windows by the name of "MS-DOS Prompt" pops up. For what reason I do not know.

2nd. I have Ad-Ware SE Personal and Spybot Search and Destroy. I have tried to run Ad-Ware SE and it keeps freezing up. I ran the Spybot and some results came up and I fixed them. But everytime I run the Adware program my anti-virus program (AVG free edition) keeps detecting Trojan viruses in my C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder, and when I delete those files/folders, they still become detected as viruses in the recycling bin until I empty it. I am specifically having problems deleting this file called "ZLT0772c.Tmp". When I try to delete this file is says "Cannot delete ZLT0772c: Access is denied. The source file may be in use."I had this same problem before I restarted the computer. First the file name was "ZLT03cd4.Tmp" and I could not delete it. And also this folder by the name of "AAWTMP" keeps coming back even after I delete it 2 seconds ago.

3rd. When I tried defragmenting my computer, it ran for 5-6 hours and it stopped at 48%. It kept getting up to 27% and restarting, 30% then restarting, 33% then restarting and so on until it got up to 48%. When it got to 48% is just didnt go any further.

4th. The overall performance of the computer seems to be getting worse everytime I use it. If someone could take some time and help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Seriously!

AHHHH!!!! HELP!!!!! AHHHH!!!!

I forgot one thing:

When I go to Shutdown or Restart the computer it always goes to do it, then the Wait - End Task - Cancel window pops up. I dont know why because I am not even running a single program and there are no windows open. AHHH!

hi I no you have ad-ware on your computer but on some computers it does not work with your antivirus you have installed, and one of them is AVG.
What i had to do was uninstall it and then run my antivirus without it.
Another problem you have is you could have some bad sections on your hard drive,
if you go to computer on local disk C if that is your main disk, right click go to properties and you will see tools click on that and you should see where you can run an error checker, this checks for disk for errors and repairs files. let this run.
Then do a disk cleanup which will get rid of a lot of old files then a defrag .
ONCE THAT HAS BEEN DONE DO A SYSTEMS RESTORE POINT, then run it for a while with ad-ware not installed. see how you get on if you get stuck or not let us no how you get on.

ok...

OK so I tried to do the scandisk, and this is what keeps happening:

It will scan for about 6 minutes up to 55% then stop and the following happens:
(*Window Pops UP*)
The 'C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{DA1AECA8-3C74-400A-922A-B2A1BB127BDC}\Microsoft\Outlook Express' folder contains incorrect information about 'Folders.dbx'.

This file or folder's last-modified date or time is invalid or is in the future. This may be because your computer's clock is set incorrectly. ScanDisk repairs future dates by changing them to your computer's current date setting. ScanDisk repairs out-of-range dates or times by changing them to the nearest setting within the valid range.

(It has 3 options--> 1-Repair the error. 2-Delete the affected file. 3-Ignore this error and continue.)
I tried to restore, and I tried to delete, keeps restarting scandisk. I also tried the 3rd option(ignore) and a Scandisk window pops up and says:

After trying both option 1 & 2 another window pops up and says:
(*Window Pops Up*)
SCANDISK NEEDS TO RESTART

A program (or Windows itself) saved information to your drive after the previous error was detected. ScanDisk must restart so it can include this new information in the scan for errors. This error, and any other errors that were previously reported, but not corrected, may be reported again.

This is what happened after trying the 3rd option:

Scandisk-Local Disk (C)<--Window name

Scandisk must now restart because another prgram(or Windows itself) wrote to your disk. Any errors that were previously reported, but not corrected, may be reported again. Options-->OK or Cancel

Then scandisk repeats and restarts.

If you have disk Ithink the only way to get rid of this lot is a complete reinstall of windows.
