Unhappy what is msgsvr32?

FONT=Arial]I could use some advice on how to get rid of msgsvr32.exe. Is it a virus, a worm, or worse (time-share vacation condo salesman)? How do I make it go away. It's causing no end of trouble on my friend's PC. I cant launch or install any programs before getting a blue screen error message "press any key to return to windows..." After that the monitor goes black. Gradually, a few patches of her original Windows 98 desktop appear, then freezes up. After a few minutes, a "...program is not responding-End task" message appears. We're trying to retreive personal files and folders on her Windows 98 system before upgrading her to Windows 2000[/font]

hi WHAT THE ERROR MEANS IS YOU HAVE AN OLD VERSION OF NORTONS INSTALLED STILL ON YOUR SYSTEM, AND NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY TAKEN OFF, AND A NEW ANTIVIRUS INSTALLED BUT MAKE SURE ALL TRACES OF OLD NORTONS REMOVED FROM EVERYWHERE.
