win98 not booting

i installed win98 on my c: and winxp on D:....
both windows were working fine. but now i m getting problem win win98 whenever i select win98 to boot...after some loading i get a msg

"windows protection error.you need to restart your computer.
press any key to continue..."

when i press any key i get a msg "its now safe to turn off your computer"..

i tried to run win98 in safe mode and it works ok with safe mode...i checked C: with scandisk,but it didnt show any error.

although winxp(on D: Drive)is working fine.

plz tell me how to solve this problem....

I think you have to install XP first (on drive C) then install 98 on the other disk.
If you did it the other way round that could be the reason for your problem.
Don't simply switch disks over. start all over again, starting with putting XP on C drive.

well i installed win98 on C and winxp on D drive....
still xp is working fine....but i m getting problem with win98
