Unhappy Hi, Need Help with Disc Drive

I am new here so not sure how this works but I have a problem with my disc drive. When I put in my Paint Shop Pro disk I get an error message and the disc will not load.

The error message reads "<unknown> has caused an error in <unknown>. <unknown will now close>.

Then it says " Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item".

I have been using Paint Shop Pro for a year so it is not a permission problem. Can anyone help. I am running windows ME.

Thank you.

The problem -- Windows ME itself. It's a dog's breakfast of an operating system.
Bill Gates must have been in a very bad mood when he foisted that upon us. It drove thousands over to Linux and Apple. Dump it and do yourself a favour.

I have to agree that ME is a law unto itself. Note that the error message explains nothing of any value whatsoever to you, or anyone else.

I can't be of much use except to say, have you installed anything lately?
Run the usual spyware, virus scans.

Unhappy

Thanks guys, I was down for a while and am just getting the computer up and running again. I tried to figure out how to fix the problem and the computer crashed. I had a recovery disc so now my computer is back to factory settings. However, I did lose all my work, pictures, address's and I am not a happy camper. I will be installing Windows XP but just trying to get things back in order again. Thanks for your comments.
