Upgrading

Okay , i've just built my first computer and accidently bought a windows XP upgrade instead of the full version

I tried installing an old Windows 98 OS so i could upgrade to XP but everytime i switch it on it will go through the BIOS ok but then a message comes up saying :

While initializing device NDIS:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.

Ive done this but it still happens. A friend says its beacause Windows 98 cant recognise AGP cards as i have one installed.

Please help.

Back in the old days I had a Pentium II 266mhz with AGP running Win98. I had no problems. It might have been a newer version of 98.
