Hiya ab_initio
I think THIS is what you are looking for

PS. There is no point sending the answer in a PM or Email because other users searching for the same thing would not find anything

THANKS vidster FOR YOUR ADVICE

i used sophos antivirus but was unable to remove the virus do you have any other method to remove it

or if you can give me the original registry values of following :-

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Start Page
about:error
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs
error
http://<URL at geocities>
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
NoFolderOptions
1
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Advanced
Hidden
0
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
ClassicShell
0
The virus deletes the following registry entry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext ShellViews
(5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262

it will be a great help to me.

The link i gave you was to an add-on to the Sophos anti virus program that, once installed, will specifically look for the vbs/roor-b virus on your system
