microsoft visual c++ runtime library error....please help

I have windows 98 and when I boot up my computer i get this error, and it says its with iexplorer.exe....if i click ok it takes away my icons on my desktop as if my computer is about to shut down, if i dont bother with it i can still do everything and get online etc but the error is still there..what can i do to get rid of this problem?

Have you run a thorough spyware/adware scan AND a thorough virus scan?
