Unable to write to drive C

Get this message on occasion, but not all the time. this freezes machine. Reboot and says cannot find os does this three times then loads no problems might last 2 or 3 days and starts all over.

Any Ideas, on where to start..??? Full surface scan using scan disk shows no errors, removed ide cable on both ends and tried reseatting it. thanks in advance

This problem was brought up in an earlier post and the person solved it by replacing the ribbon connecting hd to motherboard. Maybe the Master Boot Record is corrupted. You could try rewriting the MBR from the install cd.

You could also use a tool from your hard drive manufacturer to diagnose the drive to make sure. Flashing the motherboard would be the final thing I would try if the problem persists.

Check the power connector on the hard drive and make sure it's tight. A poor connection can cause all sorts of hard drive problems. You should try a different power connector and make sure it is not sharing power with any other device, especially a fan.
