W98se does not reconise the USB port

I reformated the hard drive and reinstaled Win 98se and now it does not reconise the USB port that it has. It was OK before the reformat. I must run the Win98 to get my Inventory Progam to work. Need USB port to update all outher computers. Thanks for any advance you might have. Computer is Older Gateway. Vic

It doesn't find the USB at all, or it finds "unknown hardware"?

Hi, Make sure that USB is enabled in your BIOS setup. Luck, Jim

Hi again, Different manufactures/builders use different BIOSs. If you have the manual for the machine or the Mother Board it will tell you how to get in. Most also explain all setting. Poorly but a little help. Most comps today tell you how during the boot process. Watch closely as it boots. Most also use the DEL key while booting to get into BIOS setup. Some use other keys. Luck, Jim

Any windows version newer then 98 auto detects USB mass storage drives while 98 does not. You probably need the USB Mass Storage driver, not sure though.
