I have a specific problem with my 16x DVD player when playing movies

Ok over the last 2 weeks I have noticed that my DVD player on my PC has frozen everytime I have played a movie on it. It usually runs for 3 minutes while playing and then freezes. The red light comes on and you can hear the computer making the fast processing noises and then it freezes.

I have tried to correct this problem by reformatting my PC and reinstalling everything and also I have defragged, etc. But still the problem persists. here are my specs :

Intel Pentium 3 Pro
128 ram
600 megahertz
16x DVD rom drive / CD rom 40 x
Windows 98 SE

I have not had this problem before and I will be trying to switch my DVD player with one from another PC to test it in the nest week. But in the meantime can someone please help me out here.

hi david,

don't go buy a new dvd just yet, first you should ensure that the driver for it is the latest one for windows 98 (not just off the cd) and also check for IRQ conflicts.
