Problems with startup
I am running win ME..I can get into safe mode...np...but am not able to load Windows....The MSN startup screem comes up first...then does not load rest of windows....computer locks up.
any help would be apprecitated.
Hi Arpy, If you boot to "safe mode" and then go:
Start=>Run=>(type and then ok) msconfig
=>Start up
if you then un-check everything but "systemtray", "Scanregistry" and "explorer"(if you see him). Then ok your way back to desktop and reboot. This should hopefully get you into normal mode. If you then run "msconfig" again, then ONE at a time re-check the items you un-checked before. Ok everything and reboot. Keep repeating this until you can identify the program that is slowing up your system. You then have a few choices, you can re-intall the program, remove it from your system or you can leave it un-checked. Hope this helps.

if that doesn't get you started up, get in safe mode, right click my computer, go to properties, and (oh chit, it has been a while since the ME days) , just make your way to the device manager. check for any conflicts or problematic devices.
