System Resources Not Freeing Up

Hi,

Okay here's the dilemma;

I am running Windows 98 SE on a work machine and recently everytime I open a program then close it the system resources are not being released. This occurs to the point that I have ZERO resouces and the system hangs.

Now I know there are NO VIRUSES\SPYWARE running on the system.

I ran the latest Norton 2003 Pro on my system for a full scan as well as the online scan. I also ran Spybot\Ad Aware as well as Regcleaner to see what is running on startup.

So my question is what causes this problem and can it be corrected short of a full format and reinstall???

what is likely happening is one of your programs is "leaking memory" meaning it is once it uses RAM and then you closes it, it does not free it up again. there are tons of free RAM boosting programs out there (i prefer RAMbooster). see if that helps.

Sorry mate... you'll have to replace your memory.
It seems is on the way to expire...
Quite good test for you; replace the memory with other & see if it solve the problem; probably yes!
