damaged w98 os

If I have a full copy of the win98 installation files in a folder on my Hard drive, and I can boot to dos in 'safemode'; Can I simply start the 'setup.exe' file for windows and copy over a partial or damaged windows installation?

I have a tablet pc with no external drives so really what I am asking is 'can I just do a fresh OS install or do I have to play around trying to rescue the damaged previous installation?'

yes,it has worked for me

I have done that with success. Is the installation program copied from an OEM disc? If so you may have to rename or delete the damaged windows folder to get it to install. Make sure that you have the installation key numbers at hand. It will ask you for it on the "first time use" screen.

Thanks JR:
I was too focused on the ramifications of the problem to think about renaming the original windows directory! Damn brain farts!
