windows 98 networking

i have an existing network. nothing to fancy just about 6 computers on a workgroup network. i cant get a windows 98 first edition computer to recognize the network, or even get an internet connection.. no proxy, no gateway, nothing. dont get it man.

Is this a new computer to an existing network? How are the computers networked: cables, routers, etc.? What OS's are the other computers running? Do you any firewalls running? Are you using ICS? Are you going through a router? What TCP/IP protocols do you have installed?
