Hiya,
The following website desplays the PC specifications for Windows ME
http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc-in...ng/windows-me/

1: PC with 150 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed required
2: 32 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended
3: 480MB to 645MB megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space
Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

================================================== =====
http://www.windowsreinstall.com/inst...ofessional.htm

Windows 2000 PC Pro Specs.

1: Computer/Processor 133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
2: Memory 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM recommended minimum; more memory generally improves responsiveness
3: Hard Disk 2GB hard disk with a minimum of 650MB of free space
4: CPU Support Windows 2000 Professional supports single and dual CPU systems

Windows 2000 / XP may run, but it will be very jerky, stuttery and will eventually crash your PC.

Go for Windows 98SE or ME.

i had a dell 800 mhz with 128 ram and 10 gig hard drive about 4 or 5 years ago,, and win 2000 pro run ok..i had no issues..your system will be ok with win 2k pro,, your have no problems..but if you do go for lesser os.. go for win 98 se..forget win ME ,,its rather crappy. and not to great on laptops..thats why i changed..my dell 800 mhz,, had win me pre installed ..so i uninstalled it,, and installed win 2k pro. and got all latest drivers from dell site.

Generator,

I had an old Windows 98 machine, and I installed XP Home on to it, and it went very slow. No matter what I did to make it faster, it just crashed and hanged. Until I deleted it and put Windows 98 back on and it was as if new (believe it or not) LOL.

I suppose it all depends on the actual age of the PC, aswell as the hardware and software that's going to be used on it.

yes i just notice the specs p3 500 ,,i thought it was a p4 500..so your right ,,win 2k pro will have probs on that laptop..i would guess its about 1995/6 age of laptop ...win 98se will be ok though. i did have a dell p4 800 and that worked ok with win 2k pro... and it was about 2000/1 made.
