problems uninstalling windows 98

I just upgraded to windows xp home edition from windows 98 and I want to know how do I get rid of windows 98 and just keep windows xp? when I go to windows 98 after reebooting it will not load but because of some missing files but it is still in my system and i'm trying to get rid of it windows xp works fine but it is slow loading all my programs.

If you just did an upgrade to XP, go to control panel, add or remove programs.

The information that was saved from win98 should be listed near the bottom. Remove this file.

If you do, you won't be able to revert back to 98 though.

Also, you can run the "disk cleanup" utility & it should give you the option of deleting the Win98 backup files.

I think you are looking at win98 and win xp as two completly different operating systems......they are not !! as is the same with win 98 and win 95..windows xp is windows 98 greatly enhanced or upgraded....the info all are giving is correct you can get rid of back ups and files no longer used by xp ...but if you get rid of 98 you have an incomplete operating platform
enjoy xp and make sure you get all the updates......the platform has a few serious exploits in its raw state
