laptop woes

been given a laptop that always had win 95 . hard disk was wiped before receiving and i want to install win 98 se but the floppy cdrom driver cant find the cdrom cos it's either floppy or optical . not sure what driver i need to install or even how to install it. any help greatly appreciated

Assuming the lappy has a floppy and a cdrom, you simply need a boot disk floppy from say, bootdisk.com
It's then just a case of booting the floppy, and assuming your CDROM drive letter is D, (which depends on the bootdisk) typing "cd D: " (Enter) setup.exe

For some reason the bios won't let me change to boot from cd-rom . It just warns me that if I do , the drive letters will change
