Windows 98 FE, External hard drives?

This forum is fantastic for helping me with my aging computer!

Can you help me with a new problem?

I was wondering about hooking up either an external hard drive OR a USB flash drive OR something else with substantial memory capacity to my windows 98 FE system.

Right now I am using a "dane electric 512MB" flash drive, which is working fine, but it would take 24 of them to backup all of the contents of "my documents" ...which include many photos and videos of my band.
(approximately 12GB).

Can anyone recommend a brand name/ model number for an external drive/usb device/ flash drive, etc. that is compatible with my system?

So far, looking for such an item in the retail world is proving difficult. I suspect that if I can search for the exact item by accurately specifying the brand and model number in a search engine, I will be able to find one online.

Hoping this is not a ridiculous question.

but if youre going to store vids n stuff idd go for max you can afford,think ahead.you can fill a 40gig hd prity quick.

ps above,you say 98fe,do you mean 98se,i would also contact a seller first to make sure its compatible with youre system and the transfer rates going to be slow if you dont have hi=speed usb.
