Installing Windows 95 over XP

Want to install 95 onto an XP PC to use old games
Went back to factory settings with XP
Have a full 95 install disc but with it inserted on boot up XP loads
If I run Setup on the disc it says I cannot run it with Windows NT, try MS DOS
I got a DOS window up but I forget how to run stuff in DOS, or do I have to boot to a DOS screen, if so, how?
BTW I suppose I'll need the Windows 95 OEM license key, I must have it somewhere, I didn't write it on the disc in those days!

Hi Les, instaed of blowing away XP you could use a free program like dos box.

You could try this too http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/12771...and-windows-7/

installing a win 95 you need to create a START UP DISK using the flopply drive... then you can proceed to the MS DOS by doing the following:
type the following:
1. format C:/

then step by step follow the comand prompts on your ms dos

nothing simpler than to take off windows xp and reformat for 95 in fat16 or fat32 or any other format you like using the installer built into Kanotix, since you have not found the CD serial why not just install fedora and go to sourceforge.net where you will no doubt find clones of most of your 95 games along with 36000 others that they have there, you can using fedora install fedora as well as running your xp install and have a dual boot system and that way not lose xp and benefit from a superior O/S with Fedora
