Unhappy Upgrade from ME to Xp Issues

I have just attempted to upgrade from ME to XP, and everything seems fine. Except: when I start up my computer, I get prompted to choose whether I want to run XP or ME. I am completely computer illiterate over here, and I have searched and searched for a way to get rid of ME. Have I just totally messed up my computer? How do I get rid of it? Is it even possible at this point in time? I was told by the person who sold me the software that the old version would be deleted when XP was installed, but alas, it is not.

Please help with any information you may have!!!

I'm sorry that I couldn't add any technical information about my problem. I am very, very dumb about computer stuff here. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have dual booted, or something went wrong.
If you just want rid of the prompt, go to control panel/system/advanced/startup and recovery click settings.
In the resultant window at the top, you see "time to display list of operating systems"
Untick, or set the time to zero.

Before you do anything!
(although I guess DiscContented is otherwise "probably" right)
You have indicated the PC still works, yet you don't say if it works under both ME and XP (dual-boot) - it is difficult to help without all the details.
IF - it works, but you just don't like "this mesage" - then why mess with it? Be grateful it still works. Copy all yr data-files, =letters, photos etc somewhere safe....
With the cost of HDD's so cheap, I wonder why folk don't just start afresh, it means you have a clean installation and gives you a reasonable spare HDD, once the new system is working OK. When you installed ME - wasn't that 5-years ago? - HDD's don't last forever. A new HDD is about 40usd - and will outlast the one you have now.
Good luck

Yes, the computer still works fine. [Sorry I left that out.] Yes, both ME and XP work. See, I wasn't sure if having both on there would be a problem--that's why I was wondering if it was bad that I did. I never installed ME; I got it with the computer already on there. So I guess if it's no problem, I'll let it be! Thanks for the help.
