pci communicatiom device

i got the blasterworm virus on my computer ended up formatting the harddrive installing win 98 se and now the computer wont detect my modem its a gvc conexant f-1156iv/r9a modem i keep getting an exclaimation beside pci communication device so i delete it from the computer refresh try to get windows to detect it but is keeps saying no driver found so to make a long story short my modem wont work please heeeellllpp

pci problems

already done that it didnt work i keep get no drive found for pci com port why shouldnt window just detect it automaticlly any other suggestions also could pc card not being detected be a problem too if it is please tell me how to set it up because windows is telling me i dont have the support wizard installed
help me someone

You may want to try pulling the card and putting it into a different pci slot. This will give you a fresh opportunity to reinstall the drivers fresh. Also, where did you get the information as to the type and model of the modem? After pulling it out, I would double check with the manufacturer to make sure you are using the correct drivers. Driver-guide.com is an excellent resource, however, I have found that the manufacturer's websites have the most up to date and problem free drivers available.

Open up the device manager and select the problem device and go to properties. Click on the update driver button/tab. Windows will search for the driver. You may need to point windows in the right direction to find the driver.
I've done this on more than one occasion, myself.
Some driver disks have the driver in the root directory so windows can find it quickly. If it's in a folder, you will have to show the path to windows so it can find it.
