Install Win98

I have an HP 6370Z Pentium ll with 160mb Ram. I installed another 9Gb H/D. I ran Fdisk & Format I copied the Win98 Cab files to the H/D but when I tried to install it started ok but after the ScanDisk it stopped and displayed the following message:

Standard Mode: Fault in MS-DOS Extender

Anyone have any ideas?

When you run the setup use the switch /is

it should read like this: setup /is

it will skip the scandisk portion, just a brief scan of the registry, and continue with the install.

Also I recommend performing a surface scan on the drive to be sure there are no bad sectors, possibly re-formatting and copying the CABs directly from CD.

I will try the switch you suggest but to keep you updated I used a H\D utility to clean everything on the H\D and then ran FDISK & FORMAT then copied the CAB files to the H\D and ran into the same message.
