floppy drive problem

When I restart my computer the floppy drive starts running on it's own, I went into my computer and unchecked the check for floppy at startup, I can stick a floppy in and it quits running, I was running an emergency disk before all this happened, seems its still looking of that. I know it's something simple I just can't find the problem myself.

Having the Floppy cable hooke dup backwards can cause the light to be on all the time.. but you did not say you had it opened up at all and I doubt this is your problem. what were you running the emergency disk for?? Virus? anything OS related?? Unchecking the search for floppy at startup is one thing... but your computer could still be set to boot from the floppy first. does your computer boot fine after you put a disk in?? it almost sounds like your hard drive is not detected (causing PC to always try to boot from floppy or a cdrom) or the boot sector is messed up on it.. (once again forcing boot from floppy or cdrom).. your usually prompt to inseart a bootable disk... what exactly haoppens when you try and boot your computer..
