Just the other day at work I started cleaning out some files that a program told me might contain viruses. I wrote down the list and deleted them one by one. Later that day a co-worker used explorer to go to
www.aol.com and check e-mail. Then later I looked at the screen and it has the background but no menu bar or desk top icons. I know I should have made a start up disc or backed up the systembefore doing this but I didn't. I made a start up disc off a co-workers computer and it gives me a start menu to work it out but I am lost at this point. I did a system scan from the A: prompt but it didn't find anything. I can do ctl-alt-del and it has no programs running...it is blank. I think I should have at least explorer and a system type program running that controls the menu bar? Please let me know if there is a way to correct this without re-formating?
