USB hang on Win98SE

Hi,

Win98SE locks up when inserting the ThumbDrive Smart into USB and unlocks when deinserting it. Any idea on what to do ? Is there a way to install the proper drivers without the device being autodetected ? I can't see the device in device manager as it hangs before I can get there. I can only see the USB controller and hub.

Is there a way to recover USB without reinstalling the entire OS ?

Thanks.

Do other USB Devices work OK?

Ensure USB is enabled in your BIOS.

Ensure the Thumbdrive is not connected > uninstall the Thumbdrive Drivers > reboot > install the Thumbdrive Drivers > Reboot if required > connect the Thumbdrive > follow the on screen instructions.

USB is enabled in the BIOS. Will disabling it and reenabling it do anything in terms of Windows ?

Also, any USB device (I have other memory sticks) does the same thing so it is not the Thumbdrive drivers which are the problem.

Can USB be removed and then readded ? If so, how is this done ?

usb hang

Did you get any usb drivers with your device. I got a Sony camera and it came with different usb drivers than were in windows. Also I got different usb drivers with my motherboard. Just a thought. Also read your documentation that came with your device. You may have to follow a specific proceedure to install specific usb drivers. Good Luck Lenny
