Uninstalling IE6 SP1

Is there anyway to uninstall IE6 SP1, then reinstalling IE5.5 SP2. I am using Win98. I am getting many IE6 faults which require closing a program then the browser. Also, on the links in some newsgroups + web pages, the window won't open. You see the mouse arrow+hourglass together not moving. However, if I right click on the same like, put the link in My Favourites, it will open from there normally. This won't happen in IE5.5 SP2. I am not of the computer generation, so please make your response easy to follow. Perhaps there is a solution not requiring uninstalling IE6. I cannot restore IE5.5 SP2 from ad/remove programs.

You should be able to restore it from add/remove, (an advanced tab in that or something similar). It normally backs up your original setup

Anytime Internet Explorer starts acting squirrely, spyware is the prime suspect.

Have you scanned for spyware? If not, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found and see if that fixes things.

In addition, in Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down to and uncheck both references to "Install on Demand," click OK. That won't stop all drive-by installations of spyware but it helps.
