Norton Internet Security 2002

I am running W2k Sp4, IE 6.0...Using Norton Internet Security 2002. My system ran fine until I use Live Update and updated the latest Norton Internet Security Program update earlier today...after the update was installed, my system is now running like molasses. I now also have an Error Event ID 7009 on my System event Log and it says " Timeout (30000 millieseconds) waiting for Norton Internet Security Service to connect." I now have my Norton Internet Security Disabled and my system is running at normal speed. Does anyone know how to fix this problem...dont think I can uninstall the update I just installed. Have you tried rebooting?

Defrag, reboot, then re-install the update, and reboot, then Defrag again.
