Windows 2000 pro no system restore?!?

Hi guys,
I recently got hold off windows 2000 professional. I did a fresh install on my computer and it was acting a bit funny e.g. the hard drive light was always on when the system loaded, windows updates would take for ever to install even for just one update. I then loaded 98se and used the same 2000 disc to upgrade from 98se to 2000 and the thing seems to be working fine so far e.g. hard drive light isn't always on and so on. My question is why Windows 2000 professional doesn't have system restore is this something that the professional version doesn't have or does the home version not have it as well. And is Professional ok to use on a home pc cause it seems a bit like its only for networks or something and if so is that the reason why their is no system restore.

2000 professional Home and Pro Version ?????

Windows 2000 comes in few flavor:
Professional, Server, Advance Server, Advance server Data Base Center, there is no such thing as Home version.

Windows 2000 Professional was more geared toward corporate users but it works great as a stand alone Home desktop operating system,,,, you are right about system restore, it does not exist in Windows 2000 but you know what, Windows 2000 with SP4 does not need the restore option as much as Windows XP does....if you learn how not to abuse it, it will work just fine.

cheers

It’s the pro version. So far it’s working great but I was hoping that at least the home version would have system restore. Cause the comp is for my sister and she's not exactly a computer wiz so it would come in handy. I'll just put on a copy of Norton system works with the Goback feature.

Thanks mate.

I run both 2000Pro and XP Pro and in a lot of ways 2000 is simpler to tune than XP. While having "system restore" is nice, 2000 will work awsome for you once set up correctly and resonably maintained. Restoring from the 2000 installation works well when all else fails. Only draw back is you must reinstall all updates. In my opinion 2000 is second to none although a little plain looking compared to XP.

Smile surry window 2000 doesn't come with system restore

Hey guy's over the pass 4 to 5 years, I has jargon around XP 2000/XP and Windows7 Home/Pro/Basic. however W 2000 XP Professional doesn't have System Restore, and shall never come build with it. So please used your W 2000 Installation disk/DVD for reinstallation. Thanks.
