imap exchange mail

I set up a exchange 2000 server and any email account I set up works great when set up as pop3 w/o any configurations. The accounts just work right out the box on outlook or any email client.

I tried for fun to set them up as imap4 and when It asked if I wanted to connect to the server, it failed. Must I do anything in Exchange or Active Directory to make imap4 email work.

I have EX2K with SP3 and I run SMTP and OWA, it is secure and works well, personally I would not run IMAP (IMAP4), it is pain in the neck.
