Windows 2000 Pro Boot problem

I just built a new system:

Mobo- Shuttle AN35N Ultra (nVidia chipset)
AMD CPU- 2600+ Barton
Memory- Kingston ValueRam 512 MB DDR dual channel
Hard Drive- Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 80GB
Hard Drive- Hitachi Deskstar 40GB
Cdrom- LG CD-RW
Cdrom- Sony 530A DVD/CD+/-RW
OS- Windows 2000 Pro

Using the Maxtor Blast 3 utility I created an imagine of my old machine;

Mobo- MSI 6330(VIA chipset)
AMD CPU- 1.4 TB
Memory- Kingston ValueRam 1 GB SDRAM
Hard Drive- Western Digital 40GB
Hard Drive- Western Digital 40GB
Cdrom- LG CD-RW
Cdrom- Sony 530A DVD/CD+/-RW
OS- Windows 2000 Pro

Presently, my new system will boot as far as the windows loading scree (black with the blocks at the bottom) at three blocks from the end it (windows) will freeze. I have had no luck at getting into safe mode using the F8 function key. I have tried to use the Maxtor PowerMax diagnostic floppy on the hard drive won't exe it just loops out of the program and reboots so I can't perform a diagnostic on the Maxtor hard drive. I have gone into dos and can see files in the dir of the hard drive. The mobo recognizes the hard drives, I tried to reformat one of the hard drives and it says there is no space. I have also tried to use the 4 disk floppy and CD install of windows 2000 and they both freeze during the install at 2000 executive... part. Any suggestions? I have played with hard drive jumps you name it. Thats the reason for this post.

saljac, Welcome to this Forum.

I love it when people are not affraid of trying to fix their computer (y)........

Question;
Do you have a copy of Windows 2000 CD ?
Are your hard drive recognized in the BIOS ?

Just answer these question and I will let you know how to install Windows 2000 without 4 floppy disk

cheers

Thanks for the attempt at helping me, yes the bios identified the hard drives and I had both CD and floppy installs for Win2000 Pro but, I got that fixed and it is up and running. Problem now is that the AN35N Ultra mainboard has a Front Panel Audio Header (JP9) so you can configure it to play from the front panel and back panel but, it will only play sound from the front panel or the back panel but not both. Now I'm trying to do a work around and see if I can have both. Got any suggestions? I have contacted the Shuttle company no response as of yet.

I don't want to give you the "run around" .. I don't have any experience with "AN35/N Ultra" mobo but the only thing I would suggest is to check in the BIOS if the function for dual panel is enabled or not.

cheers
