Creating Setup Disks for 2000

I have a computer of a neighbor here at my home and a licensed copy of Windows 2000. I have an XP machine of my own and put in my Windows 2000 CD and ran the makeboot command from the bootdisk directory on the CD. It creates the 4 HD diskettes. However when I place them in his computer and boot from the floppy to start the setup of 2000 I get DIsk I/O error. I know that the floppy operates correctly and I have tried on a couple of occasions to create different CDs and it does not work either, what am I doing wrong

Maybe you just got a bad floppy disc,

Try creating a new set on brand new floppies.
Make sure you got the BIOS set to boot from the A: first too.

Using the Boot floppies really is the slow way to do things.
if you can boot from the CD-ROM, quit screwing around and use that.

SETUP DISK

To create setup disks

Insert a blank, formatted, 3.5-inch, 1.44-MB disk into the floppy disk drive.
Insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type d:\bootdisk\makeboot a: (where d: is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive), and then click OK.
Follow the screen prompts.
Important

You will need four blank, formatted, 3.5-inch, 1.44-MB floppy disks. Label them Setup Disk One, Setup Disk Two, Setup Disk Three, and Setup Disk Four.
