Iexplore Access violation

I have Win 2000 and Iexplorer 6.0 and the SP1 update. I have scaned for virues with Norton and scanned for adware wuth Spybot and adware. Yet when I clink on the Iexplorer icon to start my browser, I get "An application Exception Occured" In Dr Watson it says Access violation (PID 12860) Exp # c000005. I've heard that some dll's could be corupt. I've tried re-installing ineploere but that don't help either. Anyone have any other suggestions?
