dumb questions: I have windows nt 4.00.1381

is this like equivalent to another form of windows with regards to drivers and such? Like if i had questions about it what forum topic would i use on this site persay? this one?

i'm sorry if it's a newbie question

it's a thinkpad 600 and i'm trying to put windows xp on it.
it has plenty of ram and it will run slow but alot better then how it is doing now.
it has no nic and I tryed to use external cd drive but i can only find ones compatable with 98/2000/xp... and when i try and install it says not compatable with this form of windows.

any help in this quest would be MUCH appreciated.

NT4 was the predecessor to Windows 2000, so I think that this section is probably the "best fit" for questions about it. Sadly you will need drivers specifically for NT4, ones for another version of Windows won't work.

Have you tried driverguide for your cd drive? http://www.driverguide.com
They've helped me out in the past. Good luck!
