Unhappy Windows 2000 boot problem

We have a Compaq N600C notebook computer that worked fine for almost 2 years until I tried to boot it recently. Doing the boot process the windows 2000 screen will appear to initialize and then the screen will display an error message with a lot of verbage. Part of the message reads 'ACPI BIOS IS NOT FULLY COMPLIANCE WITH THE ACPI SPECIFICATION.' What has gone wrong with the computer and how do you fix it?

Have you made a change recently to your "power settings" in "control panel"? It sounds like you have made a change there that is not compatible with your system.

Please specify further what happens after you recieve this message. Are you able to boot up completely?

I had that error a few days ago, which only started to show when i changed some settings in the bios. by returning to previous settings, i have not seen that error since.

After I received the bios error message I tried to boot the computer in safe mode but with out success. Also unsucessfully tried to boot from a boot disk. To my knowledge there were no changes made to the power setting. On thing that I did find out was the notebook had been dropped. This happened quite sometime ago before the bios problem began.

Dropping the Notebook could definitely cause the problem. Notebooks, or any computer for that matter, don't like being dropped.
