Win2K switch from XP Pro?

Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering about what OS to install on my laptop. The specs are listed in my signature, and I do use it on the road for extended periods of time.

I'm just wondering if anyone could list out the pros and cons of running Win2000 vs WinXP Pro. I mainly use my computer for typing, E-mail, surfing the internet, and listening to music. So in other words, nothing big and heavy.

Will I notice a battery life difference between XP and 2K? I've read around that 2K is usually more stable, but I haven't had too many problems with XP regarding that.

I would say it's a "personal judgement call". There is no question about the "rock solid" capabilities of 2000, but XP Pro is certainly no slouch either. I would suggest XP Pro as you always the have the ability to set the system to "performance" mode which inturn will give you an operating system on par with 2000 (look and all). Changing to the "performance" setting just turns off all the "fluff"!
I am a huge fan of 2000 and have been skeptical of XP for some time....that is until the past 6 month's or so. I have been running XP Pro and I am very happy it. My main computer has both 2000 and XP Pro, but these days I rarely use 2000.
