I have users who try to login to our VPN and can connect but it wont authenticate their user/pass. I try every user in the company and admin name and it still denies.
Any ideas on this?
Some that i have thought of is:
1)does the username on the local machine HAVE to match the username at the RAS?
2)the vpn was setup through connection mgr so i tried normal vpn setup by wizard and also it failed. server side setting?

The client and the server need to communicate so authentication can take place. Also check that both client and server are using at least one common encryption.
“Verify the remote access client and the remote access server are using at least one common authentication and encryption strength. Authentication protocols for the remote access server are enabled on the Security tab on the properties of the remote access server in the Routing and Remote Access snap-in.”
